Quick Summary

MojoDesk is a great standing desk for the price. It has a lot of great features:

  • Stability: The MojoDesk has 3-stage steel telescoping legs that don't wobble.
  • Smooth operation when you raise and lower the desk, and collision detection that stops the desk if it runs into anything
  • Free shipping, made in the USA, and arrives in 5 days (other desks can take weeks to arrive).
  • Easy assembly: It's clear that MojoDesk put some serious thought into making assembly as painless as possible.
  • Optional upgrade power option: the ClampOn PowerBar with two USB connectors.
  • This desk is used by employees at NASA, the FBI, 911, and many others.
  • 6 desktop colors available.
  • 5 year warranty: companies that offer solid warranties do so with quality products.
  • Tabletop: Greenguard UL approved (minimal volatile organic compounds or VOCs), Next Gen 3-D Laminate, and a contoured wire management hole in the back center or the tabletop.
  • Accommodates tall and short users: fits everyone 4'11" - 6'5".
  • Part of the cable management system uses a magnet to connect the guide to the table leg, which is stable but easy to move to different parts of the desk, and really easy to put in place.
  • Great customer service.

A couple small drawbacks (for some users) are:

  • The MAGicSnap Cable Chain Deluxe wire management system (an optional upgrade) is good because it gives space for a lot of wires to run through the guides, but a little bulky (see pictures below for more detail). This is a style issue and for some people isn't an issue.
  • The tabletop isn't hardwood, though some people may prefer to not have hardwood as that can raise the price significantly.

Stability, Durability and Safety

The stand-out feature of this desk is stability. We've used many standing desks, and having your monitors shake when you type and spilling your drink when you raise and lower  your desk gets old fast.

It also has another unique safety feature-collision detection. If it runs into any obstruction on the way up or down it will stop.

Something that MojoDesk has done that most others haven't is have their desk tested by independent labs to certify that they've met compliance standards for durability, stability and safety standards from BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) and ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials). It involves such tests as putting hundreds of pounds on several parts of the desk and then raising and lowering the desk 20,000 times. So they can claim their desk is commercial grade with their certifications.

Height Range

The MojoDesk accommodates users from 4'11" - 6'5". Users taller than 6'5" could install a monitor arm in order to get even more height out of their desk.

The Mojo has a 5 year warranty, which is solid for a standing desk. The parent company of MojoDesk, Xybix, has been in the industry since 1991 and has supplied sit to stand desks for NASA, CIA, FBI, San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, Spaceport America, Detroit PD, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and more than 3,000 communications centers across North America.

Optional Wire & Power Management Upgrades

The ClampOn PowerBar is a combination of a 3 outlet surge protector that also has 2 USB charging docks, as well a a clamp designed to hold the sure protector to the tabletop. It's a pretty cool upgrade that will reduce the amount of wires dropping down from your desk, especially if you have a lot of items plugged in.

You may prefer to hide the outlets and USB chargers below the desk,  shown below.MojoDesk Clamp on Power bar below

When you attach the clamp below, the post will show on the top side of the desk.

The MAGicSnap power outlet bar is a surge protector with 6 outlets that will fit in the ClampOn PowerBar. You can find black surge protectors for cheaper.

You also have the option of adding a CPU hanger which will keep your computer off of the floor (and free from dust).

I'm not a huge fan of the MAGicSnap Cable Chain Deluxe, pictured below. I think it's a little bulky, but that's personal preference.

It attaches to any part of the metal frame via a magnet, and runs through one of the plastic guides, which is a nice design as it's easy to move or take off, yet it stays in place.

For wire management, I like the Economy Flex Cable Kit offered through MojoDesk. It's a collection of plastic guides that you fasten to the desk with double-sided tape.

I recommend to figure out where you'll put your desk, and where your wires will go (from the left, right, or back side of the desk), before you put the double-sided tape on. It's very difficult to get off! Below is the underside of the desk where you can see I attacked a few of the plastic guides to the bottom of the table top (first picture) and to the legs (second picture) to keep wires from being seen.

UL Greenguard Certification

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been known to cause cancer in humans and animals, and can greatly affect indoor air quality. VOCs can cause eye, nose and throat irritation, shortness of breath, headaches, fatigue, nausea,  dizziness, and skin problems. Higher concentrations may cause irritation  of the lungs, as well as damage to the liver, kidney, or central nervous system. If anyone in your house or office deals with respiratory issues (such as asthma), you should be aware of VOCs.

MojoDesk has been tested and met stringent chemical emission standards, and their parent company, Xybix, has been certified on a quarterly testing basis since 2009.

This is for the 48" x 30", though there are other sizes available:

  • Item Weight: 115 pounds
  • Product Dimensions: 48" x 30" x 50.2"
  • Weight capacity: 250 pounds

Shipping & Assembly

The MojoDesk is made in Littleton, Colorado, ships for free and arrives in 5 days.

Assembly was pretty simple and took me about 40 minutes. You can tell that they spent time making assembly as hassle-free as possible by pre-drilling the desktop holes and pre-assembling the legs.

Here's a link to the assembly directions in PDF, and a short video that walks you through the process:

Our Recommendation

If this fits in your budget, we rate the MojoDesk as a strong buy, especially if you're looking for a stable desk that won't shake when you're typing.

We like the free shipping, quick delivery, easy assembly, 30 day no-risk guarantee, low VOC emmissions, beveled tabletop, it's ability to accommodate short and tall users, it's smooth operation, and color options.

Right now MojoDesk doesn't many of it's options on amazon. They offer 5/6 tabletop colors, only black frames, and none of the wire management or power upgrades, and no CPU holders. You can get everything on their website.
